While Taylor’s planes took first place on the list after emitting more CO2 emissions than 1,000 average people, Kylie Jenner wasn’t even in the top ten.
Earlier this month, Kylie Jenner was rated as “full time climate criminal“After it was reported that her private jet had been used on a series of very short flights.
“Do you want to take mine or yours?” I hung up the post, but it wasn’t as resilient as I thought, and the photo quickly went viral on Twitter for all the wrong reasons.
“Kylie Jenner really is one of the worst celebrities out there,” one person tweeted at the time. “Its no show of its utter disregard for the planet.”
However, according to a new report, Kylie doesn’t even make the top ten on the list of celebrities with the worst CO2 emissions from their private jets.
They include her boyfriend, Travis Scott, who ranked 10th on the list, and her sister Kim Kardashian who was seventh.
According to the Yard report, Travis’ flight emissions for the year so far, as of July 20, were 3,033.3 tons, with an average flight time of just 7.31 minutes — the equivalent of a 10-minute drive.
Kim’s plane has emit 4268.5 tons of carbon over 57 flights since January 1, 2022. The average flight time was 85.49 minutes, and its shortest flight was just 23 minutes.
This probably isn’t too surprising for fans of the Kardashian family, who will know that Kim is very proud of her newly renovated private jet, which she once owned. Decorated Made of pure cashmere and specialty wood.
In fact, just two weeks ago, Kim posted a photo of her jet-set with a camping theme for her daughter North’s ninth birthday party with friends.
But carbon dioxide emissions Travis and Kim sum It’s just a passing picture of the celebrity who ranked number one in Yared’s research. The company discovered that singer Taylor Swift had raised more emissions on her own in just seven months than the average person’s 1,184 in one year.
In fact, its jet has taken 170 flights in just 200 days this year, with its total CO2 emissions for the year, as of July 20, totaling 8,293.54 tons. According to the Yard report, the average person emits only seven tons of carbon dioxide per year.
And while many would be forgiven for assuming most of Taylor’s flights will be between the UK, where she lives with her partner, Joe Alwyn, and the US, where her family lives, the average flight time is actually just 80 minutes.
For perspective, it would take nine hours to fly from London to Nashville.
Taylor’s shortest recorded flight in 2022 was just 36 minutes, when her plane flew from Missouri to Nashville.
In fact, Taylor’s use of the private jet is so high that it released over 1,000 tons more carbon dioxide than the celebrity who ranked second on the list, Floyd Mayweather.
The boxer was found to have made 177 flights in 2022 by the time the research was conducted, averaging 25 flights per month and emitting 7076.8 tons of carbon dioxide.
Other celebrities who made it to the top 10 include Jay-Z, A Rod, Blake Shelton, Steven Spielberg, Mark Wahlberg and Oprah Winfrey.
And while people were horrified at the apparent disregard of the planet by All-Stars, they were indignant at how much damage Taylor’s planes did to make it number one.
Many wondered why Taylor travels so much considering she’s not on tour, but others soon pointed out that what little we know about Taylor’s incredibly private lifestyle indicates that she’s a pioneer in the aircraft industry.
“She travels a lot. She has homes in London, New York, Nashville and Los Angeles,” subreddit. “For the past few weeks, she’s been in the Bahamas on vacation, London with Haim, and the United States for Selena Gomez’s birthday. And that’s just in public.”
They later added that Taylor also has a home in Rhode Island.
Another wrote: “I love Taylor’s music but like a dirty woman, people say she always takes her plane back and forth between London and Los Angeles, and always takes her plane wherever her boyfriend is filming.”
They added: “She has 8.2 thousand tons of CO2 emissions due to her flights this year… That’s 1.2 thousand more than the next closest person on the list, and 5 thousand tons more than the people with lower levels on the list…Holy shit Taylor stay at home”. . “Only 170 trips this year! She has a stark clean image, but that’s excessive to the point of dreadfully insane and unbelievable. I’m a fan but I’m bullshit.”
“This is infuriating to read! I don’t understand how someone can live this way and not care about their effects on the planet! Another user commented on this, I wish I could understand that, but I really don’t.
One person added, “I’m a fan too and that’s a difference even between her and the other two polluters on the list – totally crazy especially when she wasn’t touring???”
Another person said, “I would say this is just further evidence that she is actually not progressive tbh.”
Taylor has yet to acknowledge the backlash, and BuzzFeed News has contacted her representative for comment.
